Barrow Golf Club was always going to be a bit of a trek for The Night Golf team but when we got there, it was well worth it. The 4 holes on the top of the course that we were using for the event on December 7th had some fantastic views.
Some of the team had even been and bought thermals specially for this event (it wasn’t going to be warm was it!) and it seemed like that was a good idea when we arrived and the wind chill felt about -10. It was a beautiful afternoon to set up and the views and the sunset made up for the cold wind. Once the sun went down however, the wind died and we were treated to a calm, clear, relatively mild evening.
Mike Newton and the team had done a great job of organising the format and the food for the event and I think a special mention has to go to the player who scored the first ever Night Golf eagle (driving a par 4 and holing the putt for a 2) on the 17th.
We think it went down well with the members as we are back there at the end of March to do it all again. I might have to take the clubs next time and check out the other 14 holes in the daylight.
