Moor Park Golf Club was the first venue in Hertfordshire to host a Night Golf event, and what a venue! As you can see from the photos, the clubhouse (inside and out) is quite something. I have seen inside a LOT of clubhouses and I think this takes some beating.
In addition, Director of Golf, Jonathan Dove and Head Professional, Simon Eastwood picked four great holes to use for the event. The final hole in particular looked fantastic.
There are some great players at Moor Park and Night Golf seemed to appeal to every type of golfer, I believe the Junior girls in particular have very promising futures in the game and we were delighted to see them out enjoying Night Golf. I’m sure our own top Professional and Night Golf Consultant, Charlie Douglass, will be back at Moor Park soon to play a round with the girls.
In spite of it’s very grand and quite imposing surroundings, everyone at Moor Park was friendly and welcoming. We’ve been promised a return trip later on in the year. We can’t wait!
Bentham isn’t the easiest place to get to. When the event was scheduled in mid-March, the course was under several inches of snow. 66 players had signed up for Night Golf and such was the enthusiasm of professional, Nick Barron, he still wanted to go ahead! We have been angling to get an event done in the snow so weren’t against the idea. The lights would look fantastic in the snow!
Sadly, we don’t drive 4×4’s at the Night Golf Company so it was unlikely we were going to even get there. The event was hastily re-arranged for the last night of before “summer” began (on March 30th). It was still sub-zero and the snow was piled up at the sides of the fairways but the course was clear. A great turnout of nearly 50 players still made it and I have to say, the 1st and 18th looked quite stunning.
Local photographer Tony Crossland www.tcrosslandphotography.com came down to capture the event and we were very impressed with the photos he took. So impressed we invited him to Heysham the following week. The photos are on his website and have already proved to be a hit with over 200 visitors.
The members were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed the event and we will be back at Bentham in October to do it all again.
